Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in Sierre Leone in the year 1990,the Oscar nominated movie Blood Diamond is the Story of Danny Archer(Leonardo Di Caprio)-an ex Mercenary from Zimbabwe who served in 32 battallion,the most decorated unit of the South African Border War and Solomon Vandy(Djimon Honsou)- a Mende fisherman.Both men are Africans,but their histories as different as any can be,until their fate collide in a quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives.While in prison for smuggling conflict diamonds to Liberia,Archer learns that Solomon who was taken from hid family and was forced to work in diamond fields has found and hidden the extraordinary stone.With the help of Maddy Bowen(Jennifer Conelly),an American journalist whose idealisms tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men set on a trek through rebel(RUF) territory, a journey that could save Solomon’s family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.
