The American Actress Katie Holmes was born to Kathleen A. and Martin Joseph Holmes, Sr. (born 1945), an attorney specializing in divorces.She was born in Toledo,Ohio and has three sisters and a brother.Holmes is the youngest of the five children.She did her high school in Notre Dame Academy(all female high shool) where katie was a 4.0 student.After that she did her schooling at St. John’s Jesuit(nearly all male high school).It was in this high school where she started her musical activities.She scored 1310 on her SAT and stepped to the Columbia University.Katie told in a public paper “The Blade” of her hometown that the three best describing herself were “honest,determined and imaginative”.She made a made a pledge that she would remain a virgin until marriage.
She appeared in the film scene for the first time in the film The “Ice Storm” directed by Ang Lee,after she performed a monologue “To Kill a Mockingbird”.It was in January 1997,Katie went to Los Angeles for Pilot season,she was offered the lead in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” but she turned it down.After that she was asked by Columbia Tri-Star to come to audition for the show created by Kevin Williamson.At this time she was engaged for a school Play and she replied: “I was doing my school play, Damn Yankees. And I was playing Lola. I even got to wear the feather boa. I thought, ‘There is no way I’m not playing Lola to go audition for some network. I couldn’t let my school down. We had already sold a lot of tickets. So I told Kevin and The WB, ‘I’m sorry. I just can’t meet with you this week. I’ve got other commitments”.Though she was permitted to audition on videotape.
Katie made her first leading role in “Disturbing Behavior(1998)”.She won MTV Movie Award for her role in this film.She played a small role in Wonder Boys(2000) but won attration from many film critics with her perfomance as Hannah Green,the talented student who lusts after Professor Grady Tripp(Michael Douglas).Katie did her first nude scene in the film “The Gift(2000)” directed by Sam Raimi,a scene where she was about to murdered.But in Ohio,the scene met with disapproval(wrote in “The Blade”.She did a series of films and then recently in “First Daughter” katie played the President’s Daughter where she did a marvellous role.After that “Batman Begins” in the year 2005 which was the most successful film of her career.In that film she played Rachel Dawes, an attorney in the Gotham City district attorney’s office and the childhood sweetheart of the title character.In most recently in “Thank You For Smoking(2006)” where she played a role of a Washington reporter.
On April 18,2005 Katie did her first date with Cruise.But the “FreeKatie” website criticised katie’s relationship with Cruise.It was on October 6, 2005, Katie and Cruise announced that they were expection a child and she gave birth to a daughter,Suri on April 18,2006,the first anniversary of Holmes’s first date with Cruise.Until september 2006,Suri had not been seen in public.On November 18, 2006 they were married attended by many Hollywood stars.
